can t joke with dexy is the opener here and is a bumpy, edgy house cut with tense and nervy keys jangling above a roughshod drum line. it grows ever more dark and comic and things roll on before faith is a more breezy, airy house groove. the drums here dance a nimble dance, thin synths and emotive chords all come in rich layers and a lo-fi percussive line proves how frey can conjure up idiosyncratic sounds with ease. like its title suggest, ghosts is a hauntingly atmospheric track with icy hi hats, pixel thing and hugely melancholic chords and harmonic bells all adding a sense of calm and serenity to turbulent drums deep down below. lastly, scale is a sub 100bpm crawler with fat elastic synths strung up between lazy kicks. two filtered spoken word lines add plenty of weirdness to this soupy bit of cosmic seduction and round out an ep that is stuffed with fresh ideas and great sonic invention.

dj ralf is the italian icon who runs the much loved laterra recordings label and management, and is now back with �er suonone�, a new track from margot that is all set to be a late summer smash. anyone who has heard the legendary dj ralf (a cult figure who has been the subject of a documentary, has played all over the world, runs his own legendary bella ciao party and holds a cult residency in cocorico) play recently will most likely have heard this track in his set, and it has been an unknown but much loved secret weapon for a while now. as such this one sided vinyl pressing will please many people who have been hunting it down. margot, of course, is an italian pair of accomplished producers who have released on, les disques de la mort, hell yeah and border community and run their own margot records label. �er suonone� is a pumping, deep, slow burning bit of cosmic house that builds and builds and teasers listens without ever releasing the pressure. monstrous kick drums drive it down below, pixelated stabs add suspense in the distance and icy hi hats slither in the foreground. it�s the sort of track to drop right at the peak time and it will surely go right off, with people fist pumping along to the groove.

when i was 10 years old my father took me to a flea market in a very small city up north in sweden, pitea. there was a little bit of everything being sold there: ski equipment, comics, porcelain figurines and vinyl. it was there and then i came across autobahn by kraftwerk. the thing is, we didn t have a turntable at the house we stayed in, on those cold winter weeks so i had to wait until we came back home to give the record a proper spin. in my mind i played it several times and i thought it was amazing. i imagined it was music from the future. what i thought when i heard it for real? didn t like it at all. the very same feeling i imagined autobahn would sound like is the one i get after listening to ishi vu s debut on omena. these five tracks, you could call it an album if you like, are playful, quirky, dreamy and very addictive. like finding a new friend you know you want to keep for a very long time.

ibiza based francisco allendes makes a welcome return to desolat for his next release, a fine ep that marks something of a new direction for the man across its four great tracks. first up, 2agility queen is a raw bit of jacking house with clipped vocals offered up by dance manias dj dmc, bulky drums and classic cow bell tinkles all making for a sweaty and heavy house kicker.

one sided 7inch color blue. with one track... probably french only can understand the joke. its a song from gainsbourg called le poinconneur des lilas transformed into the partyguy from les lilas. kind of an anthem for free party guys. a bit like the one night in hackney, but in a free party french version. as the sound was nasty we went and cut this properly in a decent studio, and sound is really amazing compared to the you tube version. a superb little collectable tune. enjoy!

ian blevins is from england but hes quite the dude. this is his first offering for the esp institute. on side a, meet the happy beast named hannibal, a big room tune that ticks every box your heart may desire bone dry drum production, atmospheric arpeggios, soaring strings and pads, a beautifully sweeping bass progression and an overall sense of euphoria goosebumps guaranteed. on side b, welcome aunt poly cools us down a little bit stripping back the instrumentation, minimizing any superfluous effects, and layering a sparse bassline and droning synths over a laidback 808 all to a relaxed tempo. blevins debut proves that from the right point of view, familiar elements and motifs can take on a new life whilst reminding us just how the rave can feel. these two songs will increase your serotonin levels.

after contributing a remix for our label in 2011 daniel stefanik now returns to raum with his first solo single under his new moniker dlsk.
the a side * sense of doubt* is a bit more stripped down and melodic, as the b side and also the title track of this release * subterraneans* is more of a jazzy house groove, that simply doesn�t stop rolling and keeps the tension with subtle variations and other nice little gimmicks. as always we truly hope that you enjoy these tracks as much as we do and we are happy to have daniel back on board as for sure he can be called one of germanys top notch producers.

shortly after his first ep on dnuos ytivil, sub-division of bristol imprint livity sound, simo cell, neo-parisian and nantes native, puts his second release out on fragil musique. on this one, the young producer asserts his bass-tainted electro influences. highly skilled and very technical dj, but above all open to bridges between genres and eras, the record feels like he conceived it for his own club usage. on the a side, two subtle twin tracks, -reading rashid- and -soko ban-. cycling melodies and hypnotic pads sketch two bass outlines, as simple as effective, that seem perfectly fit for switching from a stripped down techno track to an old jungle weapon. on the flip, hit track -meteor racer- is surprising. a rawer and more stripped down electro piece that lifts the veil a bit more on the young producers talent. those four brilliantly crafted track definitely place simo cell among the french newcomers to watch closely.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

late october will find cosmin trgs fizic label release its third ep, and a second missive for 2015. once again it comes from the romanian label owner and ever evolving producer, and this time features four more fierce cuts that take abstract inspiration from musique concrete or ballards high rise novel. opener sever is an expertly stripped back bit of concrete basement funk with scurrying alien sounds, frosted lo-fi textures and firmly rooted, propulsive kick drums driving the whole thing along.

weekend circuit stride on with the second part of p.e.a.r.l.s desolation ep welcoming francois x, reeko, i/y and jeff rushin to this series of remixes, servicing the generation with every bit of expansive energy techno music has to offer.

after making a great impression with its first ep, giant records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man grant dell, complete with fresh remixes by scottish techno stalwarts silicone soul. dell, also known as chicago transit authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. as a dj he is at home in clubs in ibiza and barcelona as well as around the rest of europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile. once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut �in your mind�. with a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. this is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with grant�s own space echo remix. as the title suggests it�s a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish. silicone soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the soma label. their first remix is a darkroom dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. their lush hypnohouse mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords. this is a patiently served but hugely alluring ep that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. one again then, both grant and giant have come up with the goods.

theyre young and tough, and especially wonderful too, easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the windy city! the sets a chicago soul gem from the early 70s, recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe thats different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene, definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like the delfonics or soul generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. arrangements are great � handled by tom tom washington, eugene record, and cliff davis, very much at the best brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. the title cuts a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier sly, slick, & wicked track � and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called this is the lost generation, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip.

black booby is back with the mighty jordan fields from chicago, il and richard rogers, london, uk for bb-09 4 tracks of retro inspired, raw, stripped machine music. jordan�s a1 blaster is pure gherkinesq analogue, mind melting, building mayhem, designed for dancing richard rogers debut on bb gives a2 a workshop vs detroit styled bass workout with subtle paperclip percussion bringing up the rear. black booby tears up the seminal kenji tsujisaka produced shinobi coin op level music to new club dance floor heights on b1, b2. direct 8 bit coin op pressure with stripped 707, 808 and 909 rhythm sections. retroactive music for arcade junkies.

vinyl only release! the cough & drop ep is a various artists reworks ep with a ronnie turner and edgar moon collab on the ace robertas slack single and then ronnie digs out two killer cuts, the first being chucks back reworking chuck brown and the soul searchers borrero e sombero and the second is the very rare ashphalt jungle track freaky time which has been tweaked up a bit strictly for groovers. we are sure this ep will be doing some serious dance floor damage in the months to come

volfs second ep for dolly and its on! two fierce but club friendly rolling techno tracks featuring an epic luke hess remix. with their warm and euphoric chords hydro funk and shadow section will take you right back to the golden days of techno, reminding a bit of aril brikha and the likes. detroit s luke hess on remix duties takes hydro funk into even deeper territories. an hypnotic and melancholic, yet very driving detroit techno tool. pure bliss on dolly number 23.

up first is gigolo, a spare and weird house cut with sine waves and random claps, hunched drums and trippy synth lines. it s a unique track made in a unique way and will lead to plenty of freaky dance floor moments, for sure. co. art is a whacked out techno cut with slap-funk claps, blistering and blistered synth lines and a rugged bit of bass underlining it all. the track is cavernous and metallic, empty and distant as if it somehow survived a nuclear blast. on the flip, alzheimer is a slow and gurgling, swampy techno number with broken drums and crawling synths that sound like their batteries have run down. icy, watery melodies eventually rain down, but the track remains resolutely eerie. last of all, fabric is another decaying track with subtle, heavily filtered synths and drums all making for a minimal groove that is barely there.

stepping up for the second ep on brame & hamos own imprint splendor & squalour is top boy hamo with his debut solo ep -the cotton club. with his partner brame he has already released staggering eps on dirt crew recordings and dam swindles own heist recordings. a fierce rise in the deep house community for sure! we already had a small taste of hamo s solo productions on the clockwerk ep that was released beginning of this year as the first ep on splendor & squalour. now we are giving you a full 5 tracker with a remix from box aus holz/ torben boy kickflip mike. the ep kicks off with title track - cotton club - a jazzy deep house jam, keeping the hip hop vibe present. up next is -wonce- which is a little bit more on the melodic side. we would also like to welcome more of our sligo family to the label with this side up, the hip hop trio is featured as third on the a side with the straight hip hop track in control. on to the b side we have the brilliant kickflip mike adding a much clubbier vibe to -wonce- a real early mornings bomb. to close the ep hamo has given us black lodge, a dusty house groover with delightful hi-hats and very clever sampling going on as in all his works, solo or with his homey brame.

techno exists in a distorted field. what is wrong elsewhere is right here. what shouldnt work works. awake at night and asleep by day. rough is beautiful, slick is rotten. with macro, things are always a bit more wrong than usual. and thats how they also end up being a bit more beautiful than usual. stefan goldmanns fossil water: fender bass tones weave a pad, from the thumping bottom up to the silky top, congregating into intense moments of dance floor bliss. the b-side throws us in at the deep end, with the tense yet laid back workout of nephelin, tipping over into the sheer techno claustrophobia of de-gauss. dark and warm like a stockholm syndrome: feeling cozy while the horror comes upon you.

uk funk connoisseur duke slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled �bangkok skytrain�, with remixes from moscow based simple symmetry and returning artist tony g. inspired by tropical heat, bangkok skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to thailand. the result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90�s melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn�t be out of place on a larry heard record. simple symmetry, the lipski brothers from moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style simple symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! tony g�s take goes a bit further afield than the original. a dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. definitely music to listen to in the dark! look out for the secret dancefloor weapon �just drums�, an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

the summer heat is still on our minds and we all do miss the sunny days, the beaches and the endless open air parties� thanks sascha dive for the right soundtrack and this summer flashback: dives new release for cocoon beams us back to the high days of the summer of 2015: especially into the woods seems to be the perfect sound for all these deeply missed summervibes. into the woods is a pristine tech-house production that comes with a cool straight forward beat programming, very nice reverse strings-sounds and hypnotic house chords. a nicely flavoured chicago club housefeeling and exactly how we like it! werewolf appears slightly more spaced out, however we are still deep in the house universe here. dive is pushing it a bit harder now - he uses crazy chord sounds and turns the track into an 11 minutetech house journey. after the summer flashback with into the woods this one beams us definitely more into the darker and hotter inner city clubs. a massive tech-house-striker by the diver and we are proud to say it is one of his strongest works so far!

after last autumn�s �knowledge ep�, héctor oaks returns to key vinyl with four more solid dancefloor fillers of the kind we�re starting to expect from the berlin-based upstart. now several records deep and with his fourth berghain set firmly behind him, these days his sound is about as honed and gratifying as skills from the booth. and �kepler 186f� is the proof.
on the a-side �dissolve� sets its sinews to march on this taut, tough and punchy number. �radial clicles� then reins in the muscle a bit in favour of a more skulking, spectral slow-build. meanwhile on the b-side, �stone storage� sends cool cymbals and crunchy hats on a sinuous, calculated romp. leaving �avoid reality� to close in noisy, bombastic fashion. but watch out�this one�s a bit of a tease.

the mysterious talent antenna shows his tough, high impact house sound for his second release on the dutch pinkman label. first up, �childhood� is a mid tempo bit of elastic, groove driven house with whirring machines, raw synth patterns and filtered, muffled vocals. hi hats add an incendiary element of pressure but really this one is all about the pinging, rubbery drums that flail like drunken limbs. �when i read my book� is another purposeful offering riddled with melody and deep drums, slapping claps and lots of jittery cow bells, impish synth sounds and bass kills that brings a real sense of energy to proceedings. lastly, �in august� is a tripped out cut with skipping kick drums, celestial and heavenly, glassy melodies and skittish percussion that all glide along in alluring and off kilter fashion. this is house music, but not as you know it!

new to the stay underground it pays gang, the eighth release on the label comes from none other than octo octa! you know him from his prolific run on 100% silk, and more recently for his ep on gerd jansons running back label at the top of the year. the man from brooklyn serves up 4 slices of that u.s. experimental house sound we love so much. on the a side, we have two versions of octo octa�s melancholic title track, requiem for the body. both as good as the other, it�s gonna be split for a lot of listeners on which is better. while both versions share certain elements, the second plays down the long keys of the first versions in favour of some stabby chord patterns. either way, proper 4 a.m. business!on the flip, we get a bit more ethereal with times two (loose version). simple yet effective, this one has a lot of atmosphere with those delayed vocal cuts over that late 80s bassline. closing out the record is when home. this one is a bit of a stomper at first until it brings in the lighter synth elements halfway through. someone, somewhere will have an epiphany listening to this track. if its you reading this, send in the results on the back of a postcard. all in all, another killer release that feels straight at home in the stay underground it pays catalogue

cheerful percussions and a nice bassline with a good vocal welcome us for the first track same named as the ep. the remix version is made by enzo siffredi, one of the stylerockets-newbies and a high talented dj and producer based in brighton. the remix version is more ticked and pushing. pitch pink is number 3 and colours up your life with a perfect sound arrangments. elmar strathe pitched a bit more and gave a great remix track to the ep.

g-23 makes his debut under the strange audio dreams moniker, coming through on italy s young art-aud label with a sweltering two-tracker backed by two heavy remixes. -error design 1- is a break-driven jam that never truly drops into pool of nastiness, leaving you yearning more, while -error design 2- strips the beats in favour of glitchy field recordings and percussion-driven drones. pan s nhk yx koyxen remixes the former into a wonky bit of brain dynamite, pushing those breaks in and out his melodic waves, cardopusher makes a deep techno roll out of the same original tune. all in all, a rather essential piece of gear.
